LECA is an acronym that stands for lightweight expanded clay aggregate.

LECA is used instead of soil, as drainage or as a substrate mixed in with soil.

Benefits to using LECA:

-Reusable (you can use LECA forever if you clean between uses)

-Water supply, your houseplant will get water at the right time from the LECA, with the open spaces serving as wicks & capillaries to draw up water.

-Oxygen & aeration, air pockets pithing the clay balls and the space between them helps the oxygen to reach the plant root, stimulating growth as well as avoiding bacterial and fungal infections.
