Perlite is an expanded volcanic glass that is primarily used to aerate soil. When heated the trace water contained in it expands, causing it to ‘pop’ and expand to 13 times its former size. It’s great to create a free-draining potting mix for plants that require good drainage such as cacti and succulents.
Benefits of perlite:
-Can create an airy soil mix for seedlings.
-Can be used alongside vermiculite (we also sell this!)
-Aerates soils, allowing the plant roots to get lots of oxygen
-Lightweight

-Has a neutral pH
