Similar to the Alocasia scalprum, but with even more pronounced textures on the foliage. The latin sinus (of the botanical name) refer to this, with sinus meaning curved or folded, in relation to the deep green foliage that appears quilted. Native to the Samar, Leyte and Mindanao Islands of the Philippine where it grows in tropical forests. A more compact variety of Alocasia, the leaves grow to between 20 and 28cm in length. This plant will add a striking tropical appearance to any room.

RATING: Moderate care needs.

LOVES: Alocasias enjoys bright locations with no direct sunlight. Keep the soil moist but not soggy. They also prefer room-temperature water.

HATES: Dry air and low humidity are disliked by Alocasia, try increasing humidity by grouping plants together or using a humidifier. They also dislike cold temperatures.
