Dryopteris cristata (Crested Wood Fern)
Dryopteris cristata is a species of fern native to wetlands throughout the Northern Hemisphere, including North America, Europe and Russia. It is known as crested wood fern or crested buckler-fern. Gorgeous light green foliage that start rolled then unfurls to reveal long delicate arching fronds. Loves a closed terrarium.
RATING- Moderate
LOVES- Partial shade or a shady spot- making it perfect fro those awkward areas! Needs high humidity so mist liberally every week and more in the summer where needed.
HATES- Being watered from the top too often. Every now and again water the fern from below and allow the plant to soak up as much as it needs. Avoid getting the centre of ‘heart’ of the plant wet! Water roughly once a week but never allow it to dry out fully.
