  • Peperomia prostrata is an unusual variegated hanging plant with delicate leaves on thin trailing stems. Nicknamed ‘String of Turtles’ this plant has the most stunning little leaves that resemble tiny turtle shells. It is a slow-growing semi-succulent that is native to the tropical regions of South America, often growing epiphytically. A must-have for any plant collector and those fond of trailing plants.

  • Care Difficulty: Moderate, likes to be handled with care.

Light requirements: Peperomia prostrata likes indirect sunlight. Make sure light is getting to the top of the plant to improve growth.

Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings, this plant is prone to root rot so make sure the soil isn’t waterlogged. Don’t allow the plant leaves to wilt between watering.

Humidity: Can do well in household conditions but will enjoy a bit of humidity so make sure you give it a mist (but don't let the leaves stay wet!) or use a humidifier.

Toxicity: Peperomia string of turtles is non-toxic to humans and pets

Feeding: The string of turtles plant would enjoy being fed during its growth period, normally spring and summer, but stop in winter.

Repotting: String of Turtles is a slow grower and has shallow roots so only re-pot if the roots are coming out the bottom of the pot.
