  • The gorgeous ZZ plant is a tropical perennial plant native to eastern Africa- these guys are the hardiest of all house plants! They have rhizomes (potato-like structures) that store water allowing these to be less needy than most!

They grow fairly slowly but will grow big and are often grown as an ornamental plant mainly for its attractive glossy foliage and easy care. This plant is also an air purifier, removing toxins such as xylene, benzene and toluene. New shoots will start off green and turn black as it matures. This variety is nicknamed ‘Raven’ as a nod to its dark purple-black foliage!

  • Care Difficulty: This plant has very easy care needs.

Light requirements: Zamioculcas zamiifolia ‘Raven’ is one of the easiest plants to keep thanks to its tolerance of many light levels from low to bright light. Direct sunlight can however scorch the plant.

Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. This plant is drought tolerant so can go without water for short periods. Do not let this plant sit in water as this will increase the chances of root rot.

Humidity: Does not need any additional humidity so will work well in average household conditions.

Toxicity: Toxic to humans and pets

Feeding: Enjoys a weak feed once a month in spring and summer during its growing season.

Repotting: Zamioculcas zamiifolia ‘Raven’ don't mind being a little rootbound and are slow growers. Only re-pot when it has outgrown its current container this can be every 2 to 3 years. Pot up one size larger in a container with good drainage.
