Begonia maculata 'Double dot' (Polka dot plant)

The Begonia maculata is a gorgeous houseplant native to southeast Brazil. It has the most beautiful leaves- the undersides start out red and gradually deepen in colour to purple. Each leaf is covered randomly with silvery spots. This begonia will also flower in the spring-summer months with small clusters of white blooms. A super photogenic plant. This variety is the ‘Double dot’ which has almost double the amount of dots adorning its leaves than its sister the ‘Polka dot plant’.

Rating- Moderate

Loves- A bright spot away from direct sunlight. A few hours of afternoon sunshine are beneficial in winter, keep soil moist but allow it to dry out in between. Turn the pot every now & again.

Hates- Wet leaves (Mist the surrounding air but not the plant itself)
