Selaginella apoda (Meadow spikemoss)

from £5.00

Selaginella apoda, commonly known as meadow spikemoss, sometimes alsoknown as Rainbow Moss or the Wire Fern is a perennial lycophyte (a spore bearing vascular plant also called ‘Clubmosses’) native to much of the eastern United States and parts of northeastern Mexico. They were amongst some of the very first plants to dominate the land over 40 million years ago! Beautiful and bouncy in both texture and appearance this unusual plant looks wonderful planted alone or alongside other plants inside a closed terrarium. Their natural habitat ranges from meadows, fields typically running alongside the shores of lakes or rivers.

RATING- Moderate

LOVES- A semi-shady spot. Avoid direct sunlight. Needs high humidity so mist frequently if outside of a closed terrarium. Would enjoy room temperature rainwater or distilled water where possible!

HATES- Dry air or soggy soil. Keep soil moist but not overly wet and slow it to dry out a little in-between watering.
