  • Ficus Lyrata, otherwise known as the Fiddle Leaf Fig got its name from the shape of its leaves resembling a violin shape. Fiddle Leaf Figs belong to the Moraceae family which typically grow in tropical regions of the world with the ability to produce mulberrys and figs.

Native to West Africa, these plants are loved for their beautiful big leaves with white stems that can grow to very large sizes, as well as their ability to remove toxins from the air and help purify the atmosphere in any room. The Ficus Lyrata only naturally grows in western rainforests since this is the only place in the world that has the specific type of wasps needed to enable the plant's reproduction. Ideally, as long as the room is brightly lit, the Fiddle Leaf Fig would be the perfect addition to any room in your house.

  • Care difficulty: While this plant has specific requirements in terms of care, as long as these are adhered to, the plant should have no trouble thriving in your home.

Light requirements: This plant likes bright indirect sunlight, so a place in the shade by a window would be perfect for this plant's needs.

Watering: Weekly waterings, allowing the soil to dry out completely in between each watering

Hardiness: It is best to avoid cold temperatures when it comes to this plant

Sizing: Currently 75cm in height, however can grow up to 10 feet tall indoors

Humidity: These plants love humidity so misting is beneficial

Toxicity: This plant is toxic to animals and humans

Feeding: Feed with a liquid feed once a month from the months of spring through to the end of summer
