Latin name ‘Lithops’ more commonly called ‘Living stones’ gets its name from their ability to blend into rocky climates to avoid being eaten. These plants take up very little room while having prolonged growth, in some cases living up to 50 years. Native to southern Africa, this small succulent has very few care needs so is an excellent plant for anybody who is looking for something low-maintenance. With its fleshy, stone-like leaves, this plant is a great way to stray away from your average succulent.

Care difficulty: This is a very low-maintenance plant with very few care requirements
Light requirements: These plants would thrive on a sunny windowsill receiving a few hours of direct sunlight every day
Watering: They should be kept almost completely dry during the winter and watering should begin once they have split open (usually in the spring). Watering should slow down in the summer when the plant goes dormant and then increase again in the autumn.
Hardiness: These are very hardy plants that can tolerate hot and cold temperatures
Sizing: Currently the pot diameter is 8.5cm, however, can grow up to 2 inches tall and spread across over many cm too
Humidity: This succulent thrives in low humidity, so an additional humidifier or misting is to be avoided
Toxicity: These are non-toxic to humans and animals
Feeding: Once per year in the spring seasons with diluted liquid feed
