  • This hardy little beauty is super easy to grow and keep alive… Brilliant for those with not-so-green fingers! From the same family as the snake plant native to West Africa, this variety has very dark long cylindrical leaves with slightly lighter green stripes.

The name ‘bacularis’ comes from the Latin word ‘baculum’ meaning stick or rod, getting this name due to its spear-like appearance.

  • Care Difficulty: This plant has super easy care needs.

Light requirements: Sansevieria bacularis ‘Mikado’ prefers bright indirect light, and can withstand some direct light, a perfect windowsill plant. It can even adapt to lower light conditions.

Watering: Allow the soil to completely dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain thoroughly. Do not let it sit in water as it can cause root rot. Cut back watering even more during winter.

Humidity: Does not have any specific humidity requirements. Will do fine in average household conditions.

Toxicity: Toxic to humans and pets.

Feeding: As a low-maintenance plant Sansevieria bacularis ‘Mikado’, doesn't require a lot of fertilizer. A weak dose of either cactus or general houseplant fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer).

Repotting: Likes to be repotted every two to three years. Size up one to two inches bigger than its current container and make sure the pot has adequate drainage holes.
