The Philodendron genus contains almost 500 plants, it is the second-largest genus within the Araceae family. One of these, the Philodendron hederaceum syn. Philodendron scandens, is a must-have as a houseplant. Boasting wonderful heart-shaped leaves on long stems, in bright green of varying tones, with a silky sheen. Native to Tropical America, the name derives from the Greek ‘philo’ for love and ‘dendron’ for tree. The sweetheart plant is beneficial for air purifying and can remove formaldehyde from its surrounding area. This has been grown on a moss pole. This plant is pretty hardy so perfect for a new plant parent.

RATING: Super easy to care for. It doesn’t take a lot to take care of a Philodendron hederaceum which makes them a must-have houseplant.

LOVES: Heartleaf plants like to be placed in a semi-shady position, away from direct sunlight. Water roughly once a week, allowing the top two inches of soil to dry out in between.

HATES: Dust, keep your Sweetheart Plants leaves clean with a damp microfibre cloth. They can tolerate dry air but mist occasionally to increase the air humidity or use a humidifier.
