  • Ficus pumila comes from the fig family but has a different appearance from other plants in the Ficus genus. Rather than having a tree-like appearance, Ficus pumila has smaller, almost round leaves that grow from long, thin stems. The Ficus pumila ‘white sunny’ is a trailing variety that can either create a ground cover or can be trained up a support such as a moss pole. This species of Ficus is native to East Asia and Australia.

  • Care Difficulty: This plant has simple care needs.

Light requirements: The creeping fig likes a bright location, out of direct sun as this will burn the leaves.

Watering: Water thoroughly after allowing the top 2 inches of soil to dry out. This plant does not like overwatering so make sure the soil has sufficient drainage and that the pot has drainage holes.

Humidity: Prefers a slightly more humid environment, keep in the bathroom or kitchen where humidity is higher or make sure to mist the area surrounding the foliage regularly. Low humidity can cause browning tips.

Toxicity: Toxic to pets & humans if ingested. Contact with the sap can cause skin irritation.

Feeding: Likes to be fed once - twice a month during the growing season (spring-summer) and not at all during winter.

Repotting: Ficus pumila prefers to be slightly rootbound. Repot every 3 years to a pot one size up or when excessively rootbound.
