Design your own unique succulent landscape

Create your own open terrarium in this 1.5-hour workshop using succulents, custom-mixed soil, and a beautiful round cement planter. You’ll carefully plant and style your design with a wide range of decorative materials, from bark and gravel to sand and moss, making every terrarium completely unique.

Please note: each booking is for 1 person making 1 terrarium. If two people would like to attend, 2 spaces will need to be booked.

Workshop Description

Create your very own stunning open terrarium using a beautiful selection of cacti and succulents.

During this relaxed and creative 1.5-hour workshop, you'll learn how to mix the perfect free-draining soil, carefully plant your chosen specimens, and design a unique miniature landscape in a gorgeous cream-coloured metal planter measuring 34cm in diameter (39cm including handles).

With a huge range of decorative materials to choose from, including bark, gravel, sand, stones, and moss, no two terrariums are ever the same. Whether you prefer a desert-inspired scene or a contemporary succulent display, you'll have everything you need to create something truly personal.

The workshop includes:
• A large cream-coloured metal planter (34cm diameter, 39cm with handles)
• A selection of cacti and succulents
• All soils, materials, and decorative elements
• Expert step-by-step guidance
• A care guide to help your terrarium thrive at home

Perfect for beginners and plant lovers alike, you'll leave with a beautiful living display and the confidence to care for it for years to come.

Please note: Each booking is for one person creating one terrarium. Due to space limitations, we are unable to accommodate shared builds. If two people would like to attend, two workshop spaces must be booked.

If you're purchasing this workshop as a gift, we recommend buying a gift voucher online or in-store, allowing the recipient to choose a workshop date that suits them.
What to expect

Our Open Terrarium Workshop is held in our dedicated basement workshop space at Between Two Thorns, 91 Trafalgar Street, Brighton.

Please note that access to the workshop is via stairs only, as the workshop is located downstairs.

We kindly ask that you arrive 5–10 minutes before the start time so we can begin promptly and make the most of our time together.

The workshop is split into three parts:

🌵 Part 1 – Creating the Base
Learn how to mix and layer the perfect free-draining substrate for your cacti and succulents.

🌿 Part 2 – Planting Up
Choose and carefully arrange your plants, learning techniques to create a balanced and visually striking display.

✨ Part 3 – Decorating
Finish your terrarium with your choice of decorative materials, including gravel, sand, bark, stones, and moss, to make it completely unique.

By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with a beautiful open terrarium and the knowledge to keep it looking its best.

You can cancel for a full refund up to 7 days before the event. Please email enquiries@betweentwothorns.com to do so

If you have to cancel within 7 days for ANY reason, then we will try and re-sell your tickets. If they do not sell, then we will be unable to book you onto another workshop or issue a refund. We know this sounds harsh, but unfortunately we are a small business, we will have bought fresh materials for the workshop and they will simply go to waste if you are unable to attend. However we do have a brilliant solution - which is that we would be happy to make you up a terrarium that you would have made for you to collect at your leisure! OR we can provide you with all the materials and lend you the tools for you to create your own terrarium at home, so you will not miss out.

We reserve the right to cancel the workshop at any time. In this case you will be issued a full refund or offered another workshop time.
