Aeschynanthus 'Caroline' (Lipstick plant)

Aeschynanthus lipstick plant - these gorgeous hanging plants are easy to maintain and look great when they flower, adding a splash of bright red! They have long trailing stems that have deep green glossy leaves along them. The flowers are small red and fuzzy- they resemble miniature lipsticks (Hence the nickname Lipstick vine) These vines are native to South-East Asia where they can grow up to 4 feet long!

Care Difficulty: Easy to care for plant.

Light requirements: Prefers bright but indirect light, but no direct sunlight as this will cause the plant to burn. Too little light while result in stunted growth and lack of flowers.

Watering: Water thoroughly but allow the top 2 inches to dry out between waterings. Do not allow this plant to sit in water as this will cause root rot.

Humidity: As a tropical plant these plants love humidity. Perfect for a bathroom or kitchen. Alternatively you could place it near a humidifier or mist regularly.

Toxicity: Non toxic to humans and pets

Feeding: Enjoys being fed during Spring- Summer growth period once or twice a month. Always follow the instructions on your feed of choice.

Repotting: Repot around once a year -check to see if the roots are coming out the bottom of the pot!
