Background & Origin
Aloe somaliensis is native to the rocky, arid landscapes of Somalia, where it grows in well-drained soils under intense sunshine. It has adapted to survive long periods of drought by storing water in its thick, fleshy leaves. A member of the Asphodelaceae family, it is closely related to other aloes but stands out for its intricate pale green markings and contrasting reddish leaf margins. In cultivation, it remains compact and makes an excellent specimen for sunny windowsills and succulent collections.
