Background & Origin
Ananas ‘Mi Amigo’ is a cultivated variety of pineapple, related to Bromeliads, and originally derived from tropical regions of South America. Like its relatives, it can absorb water and nutrients through both its leaves and roots. Valued for its architectural, spiky foliage and tropical charm, it can be grown outdoors during summer in warm climates but should be brought indoors before the first autumn frost to thrive year-round.

Once mature, each plant usually produces one pineapple at a time. After fruiting, the plant may produce offsets (“pups”) that can grow into new fruiting plants.
