Dracaena Marginata (Dragon Tree)

Dracaena Marginata, more commonly known as the ‘Dragon Tree’ are loved for their low maintenance care and being a beautiful house plant. Native to Madagascar, these plants have slender dark green leaves with dark red edges, making them a stunning yet hardy houseplant for any home. The Romans believed this plant to have many myths behind it as it was thought to be related to a dragon without 100 heads, however, in Chinese culture this plant is also thought to be a symbol of good luck.

The Dracaena Marginata is great for adding some height to your collection of plants, being able to support itself with its sturdy stem and keeping a slender and tall appearance even when growing to its full height. The Dracaena Marginata also has air-purifying qualities, allowing it to clean your air all by itself. This plant will thrive in your bathroom or kitchen due to its need for humidity, however, will survive in any other room if needed, as long as it isn’t in direct sunlight.

Care Difficulty: These plants are very easy to look after and are very low maintenance

Light Requirements: Prefers low to medium light, however, can tolerate bright indirect sunlight

Watering: Roughly once a week, allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry between waterings

Hardiness: Very light hardy, but keep them away from cold temperatures

Sizing: Currently 3 feet tall, however, they can grow to heights up to 20 ft!

Humidity: These plants love high humidity so will also like a good misting

Toxicity: Toxic to animals

Feeding: Feed with a liquid feed once a year in the spring-summer time
