Background & Origin
Euphorbia ingens is a large, tree-like succulent native to the dry regions of southern Africa, particularly in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Mozambique. It grows naturally in rocky hillsides, savannahs, and open woodland where rainfall is low and temperatures can be high.

Belonging to the diverse Euphorbia genus, Euphorbia ingens is often called the candelabra tree because of its tall, branching arms that resemble a traditional candelabra. These thick, ribbed stems store water, allowing the plant to survive long dry periods. Although it closely resembles a cactus, it is not related; the similarity is an example of convergent evolution, where unrelated plants develop similar forms to adapt to harsh desert-like environments. In its natural habitat it can grow into an impressive tree up to 10–12 metres tall, making it one of the largest euphorbias.

Care Difficulty: Super easy to care for, brilliant plant for beginners as they don't require much care.

Light requirements: Warm bright sunny spot, with some direct sunlight being ideal. A south facing windowsill is ideal.

Watering: Water thoroughly but allow this plant to dry out completely between waterings. Drought tolerant, its best to underwater then to overwater. Reduce watering in winter.

Humidity: Does not need any extra humidity.

Toxicity: Toxic to humans and pets

Feeding: Enjoys being fed during Spring- Summer growth period. Always follow the instructions on your feed of choice. A cactus feed is best.

Repotting: Repot around every couple of years -check to see if the roots are coming out the bottom of the pot.
