Botanical & Common Names
- Botanical name: Haworthia fasciata 'Alba'
Common names: White Zebra Haworthia

Background & Origin

Haworthia fasciata is a small, slow-growing succulent native to the Eastern Cape region of South Africa, where it grows in dry, rocky habitats. It belongs to the same family as aloes and is known for its thick, pointed, dark green leaves decorated with raised white stripes across their undersides, creating a distinctive zebra-like pattern.

The ‘Alba’ form is prized for its particularly pale, silvery-white markings, giving the plant a brighter appearance than the typical variety. Its compact, rosette-shaped growth and ability to tolerate drier conditions make it a popular choice for windowsills, desks and succulent collections.

Botanical note: This plant is also sold under the updated botanical name Haworthiopsis fasciata ‘Alba’. Some plants labelled ‘Alba’ may instead be forms of Haworthiopsis attenuata, so the exact identification can vary in the horticultural trade
