Background & Origin
Lepismium bolivianum is an epiphytic cactus native to South America, particularly Bolivia and parts of neighbouring countries including Brazil and Argentina. Unlike desert cacti, it naturally grows in humid subtropical and tropical forests, where it trails from tree branches or rocky outcrops under the shelter of the canopy. Adapted to dappled light and higher moisture levels, its long, slender, cascading stems reflect its rainforest origins. This growth habit allows it to capture moisture from the air and debris around it, making it well suited to shaded, woodland environments rather than arid conditions.
