Background & Origin

Pachypodium geayi, commonly known as the Silver Madagascar Palm, is a striking succulent tree native to the dry forests of south-western Madagascar. Closely related to Pachypodium lamerei, it is distinguished by its slender, silver-grey leaves with a prominent white midrib, giving it a softer, more silvery appearance. Its thick, water-storing trunk is covered in sharp spines, allowing it to withstand long periods of drought. Despite its name, it isn't a true palm but a member of the dogbane family (Apocynaceae). With its sculptural form and impressive silhouette, it makes an outstanding statement plant for bright indoor spaces and conservatories.
