Background & Origin
Vatricania guentheri, formerly known as Espostoa guentheri, is a distinctive columnar cactus native to the high-altitude regions of Bolivia. It is admired for its dense covering of silky white hairs, which help protect the plant from intense sunlight and temperature fluctuations in its native habitat. As the cactus matures, it develops striking reddish-brown bristles around its flowering area, giving rise to the common name Red Fox Tail Cactus. Its dramatic appearance and slow-growing nature make it a favourite among cactus collectors.
