Background & Origin
Commonly known as Rattlesnake Tail, is a unique succulent native to the Western Cape, particularly the arid Karoo. It is recognised for its scale-like foliage that gives it its distinctive nickname. This monocarpic plant flowers once in its lifetime, after which the main rosette dies, but it produces offshoots (pups) that can be propagated to continue the plant’s growth. Adapted to dry, sunny conditions, it is a striking and unusual addition for succulent enthusiasts.
