Background & Origin
Euphorbia ingens 'Marmorata' is a variegated form of the striking Euphorbia ingens, a large succulent tree native to southern Africa. The parent species naturally grows in dry, rocky landscapes and savannah regions across South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Mozambique, where it has adapted to hot temperatures and long periods of drought.

The ‘Marmorata’ form is a cultivated selection valued for its distinctive marbled or mottled variegation along the ribbed stems, giving the plant a pale green and cream patterned appearance. Like other members of the Euphorbia genus, it produces a milky latex sap and has thick, water-storing stems that allow it to thrive in arid conditions. While the wild species can grow into a towering candelabra-shaped tree outdoors, the variegated form is commonly grown as a dramatic architectural houseplant or conservatory specimen.
